Founder Story
Every business has an origin story. Mine started with a birthday party.
Back in 2019, my daughter wanted to craft with me — nothing fancy, just mom-and-daughter time at the table. That simple wish turned into paper centerpieces for her birthday parties, the kind you spend hours perfecting because you want the day to feel special. I didn't know it yet, but that was the moment Lina Del Plato Designs was born.
One craft led to another.
Paper crafting opened the door to vinyl, and vinyl opened the door to everything else. I started making custom cups and tumblers — the kind people love to show off. Then came signs, including one that's become a personal favorite: my adoption sign, which has resonated with so many families building their own unique stories. And somewhere along the way, I picked up Adobe Illustrator and Silhouette Studio and started designing tees and shirts — first for my daughter, then for anyone who wanted a little more personality in their wardrobe.
What started as a craft became a calling.
Today, Lina Del Plato Designs is all about cute and quirky — tees, totes, pouches, and accessories for babies, kids, and adults that don't take themselves too seriously. I design every piece myself, blending playful illustration with a personal touch that mass-produced items just can't match.
One of my favorite collections celebrates something close to home: a New York line featuring tees and totes inspired by different towns across the state. It's a love letter to place and pride — the kind of thing you wear because it means something, not just because it looks good.
Why I do this.
At the heart of it, this business has always been about connection — starting with my daughter, and now extending to every customer who finds a piece that feels like them. Whether it's a onesie for a new baby, a tote repping their hometown, or a sign marking one of life's biggest milestones, I love that my designs get to be part of people's stories.
From paper centerpieces to a full product line — it's been quite a journey, and it's really just getting started.
